Doctor Ray

Ray was a child above average in every way. Coming from a traditional Japanese background, he strove to excel in everything he attempted to the point of making even his classmates sick. Reading, writing, mathematics, science- he hungered knowledge and this desire consumed him. There was no student more conscientious than Ray and his parents could not have been more proud of their son. Although they were poor, his grades earned himself a scholarship at a prestigious all boys school. It was more than they could have ever hoped for. Unfortunately, it was more than they could ever bargain for.

     Four weeks after Ray's fourteenth birthday, Ray's usually calm demeanour went to pieces after a heated argument between he and a senior student at his school. Ray's fellow classmates found the two after a shout was heard. When they found them, Ray's now former classmate was slumped against the wall, scissors stuck through his neck. Ray was laughing.

          Soon the reports came in. People finally admitting the sickening things Ray had done to them. A boy who Ray had tutored only a few years younger than he had admitted to being threatened with a knife and forced to take all his clothes off and recite Shakespeare until Ray was satisfied. Another had all his eyelashes cut off and his fingertips sliced and rubbed in vinegar. Another had been coerced into carving linear algebraic equations into his chest and thighs until Ray was convinced the boy would not forget their formulas. It was horrible. The police and schooling institute were shocked. How had these students said nothing before now? But Ray was too bright. Too charming. He knew how to work the system. He knew how to talk his way out of situations.

          In the spring of 1995, Ray was admitted to a mental institute. He was diagnosed with severe Sadistic Personality disorder and was kept in a high security room and was not allowed to see or talk to anyone but his doctor and his parents. His parents never visited him though, too shocked by what had become, or perhaps always was. It was here he spent the next four years of his life. This was fine by Ray as now he had no one to distract him from his studies. He completed his studies in 1997 at the tender age of sixteen and was able to, in a sense graduate from high school. He spent the next two years convincing his doctor of his changed ways and innocence. In the winter of 1999, his doctor was finally convinced and Ray was discharged for good behaviour and under the guise that he was in fact, 'cured'. His name was later changed to 'Ray' as certain people were certainly not too happy to hear him be released without proper retribution.

          Though he was closely monitored for five years after he had left, Ray was now nothing more than a university student studying to become a doctor. In 2005 he graduated with honours in Medicine and Psychology and went on to become a practising doctor in various hospitals and mental institutes around Japan. In the late December of 2008, he was transferred to 漠然病院 under good recommendation and has been here since.
